>Go for a walk on the elevated Promenade Plantee along the Ave. Daumesnil in the 12th.>
Julie,
Did you notice whether there was an elevator up to the Promenade Plantée or is it only reached by stairs?
Best,
Sandy

crepes a go go-well nothing is like being in Paris, but the exhibit was nice. I did not see any of the things on exhibit in Jackson while in Paris, so it was all new to me. I try to attend all the art exhibits at the museum, and this is one of the better ones, in my opinion. So yes it is a let down if you are expecting it to be Paris.

Julie, in one of the above replys mentioned "Check out either the Ledru Rollin and/or the Aligre markets". If you do go there I would highly recommend the La Table d'Aligre restaurant next to the Aligre Market. This restaurant was written up in the Paris issue of Bon Appetite Magazine a few years ago. I have been there a number of times and every meal was exceptional and the price was reasonable. They have lunch and dinner. About two years ago the price was 23€. I would also recommend a reservation.

Crepes - two great little restaurants I went to by myself last year were: Le Petit Prince de Paris, 12 Rue Lanneau in the 5th just up the hill from 38 rue des Ecole and not far from there, Chanterelle on rue Lacepede, not sure of the number. Both had wonderful food, relaxing, comfortable atmosphere and I got very special service at each. Can't wait to return to both in Sept.

Another enthusiastic vote for the Jaquemart Andre. The interior decoration in the mansion is worth the stop, let alone the wonderful art collection. By far the most impressive room architecturally is the winter garden, with its innovative double staircase. The architect was a rival of Charles Garnier, and placed second in the competition for the Opera.
Another thing we enjoy doing in this area, besides visiting Parc Monceau, is to window shop along the Rue du Faubourg St Honore.

my suggestion: spend the morning at Pere LaChaise cemetery, have lunch for one at le Grand Vefour (they are very nice to singles for lunch...and its 3 star Michelin...most beautiful resto in Paris) and then head for the Marche aux Puces, the flea market. Its at the end of the #4 line, porte de clignancourt, go out of the station, and walk to the left for quite a distance past all the hawkers on the street, and the north africans selling leather, until you get to the buildings which house the flea market. Spend the day there and if youre hungry again, go to Chez Jeannette for steamed mussels and Edith Piaf songs sung by the waiters
