Florence in August

I will be in Florence August 1 - 8. Will most restaurants and stores be closed? Is this a bad time to go? What is Florence like
in August?

Make that very hot, and more humid than most of Tuscany.

OK, how hot and how humid?? We are going 8/14-8/18.....maybe.

In August average highs are in the mid 90's - humidity, naturally, varies.
