Walks of Italy - Tour Operator
Has anyone done a tour with this company in Rome? Thinking of doing the Colosseum tour with my children.

We have two tours booked in June with Walks of Italy, Colosseum(Ancient Rome) and Vatican. I did lots of research here and on other sites and the feed back was all very good. I'd also love to hear from any one else who has experienced one of their tours .
We will be traveling with our two teen age sons.

I took my family on some of their tours at the beginning of last year. We got to go on one of their first Colosseum underground tours (the Vip Access one) and I was really impressed. Their guide spoke perfect English and appealed greatly to the kids in the group, and these were my top prioreties. There were about 8 in that group. All of their groups are small which is rare in Italy tours, a maximum of 12. We also did tours with them in Venice and Florence. All were great and we said so even on Tripadvisor. Hope that helps!

Walks of Italy was founded by an American ex-seminarian called Jason Spiehler, who had a following even before he went into the tour business:

We took a great tour of the Colosseum and Forum with a tour company called Roman Empire Tours. All native English speaking guides as they are an Irish based company. My family and I found them very informative and every easy to digest. Their prices are very frasonable as well. We found them through tripadvisor as their reviews are amazing.

We are currently spending a week in Rome and have taken 2 tours with Walks of Italy. Our first night we went on the Twilight Walk. it was just my husband and I and one other couple and we thought the tour was excellent. We learned and saw a lot. The other tour was Pristine Sistine we were the only ones on it. So we got a private tour at a group tour price! Both guides were excellent and knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. I highly recommend them!

Not sure how old your kids are but Gladiator School was a huge hit with my friend's kids. There is a link somewhere for it in this article which I found very helpful for Rome planning. http://www.ciaobambino.com/ciaobambi...ps-and-guides/

Hey jamierin, we booked about 6 weeks in advance. But I guess it would depend on when you're going and what tours you want. They told me their Pristine Sistine and VIP-type tours sell out a lot in the summer. Good luck and enjoy

For those wondering, we took the Walks of Italy tour last August with Walks of Italy - the am VIP tour. It was really terrific and worth the money IMO. Our guide was Claudia and she was excellent. If you can request her I would - very knowledgable and kept the kids interest for the entire 3 hours.
