Walking Costa Brava - Cap de Creus
Can anybody advise on the quality of the footpath between El Port de la Selva to the lighthouse at Cap de Creus, the GR11.
What would the projected time to cover the distance for an "average" paced walker?
As the plan would be to walk on to Cadaques, is there any bus link from there, back to El Port de la Selva or is there a ready availability of taxis in Cadaques (cost?)

It is a 5 to 6 hour trek - 15 km - The footpath is well indicated (red and yellow, the colors of the Catalan flag).
Port de la Selva to Cadaques is another 14 km.
I am not sure an average paced walker would be able to do both in one day.

Pvoyageuse - the plan would be to walk on from the lighthouse to Cadaques, a further 6 km according to my research. At a suggested 3 km per hour, I must assume the footpath to the lighthouse is over uneven terrain.
Marigross - I have found details of a bus service (Sarfa) leaving Cadaques at 19.30, arriving Port de la Selva 20.00.

I see. I thought you wanted to walk in one day from Port de la Selva to Cadaquès !
I'd say that lighthouse to Cadaquès is closer to 8 km than to 6 if you take the Antic Cami and yes, the terrain is uneven. Count approx. 3 hours.

OK, so the distance Port de la Selva to Cadaques, via the lighthouse, is 23 km with a walking time of up to 9 hours.
To catch the bus back to the start point and to allow time to have a break at the cape, plus some time in Cadaques, one would appear to need to be starting the walk by 9 am.
Correct?
Would the GR 92 walk from Cadaques to Roses be less strenuous and require less time? My research indicates a distance of 21 km. There seems to be a more frequent Sarfa bus service in the afternoon between these two towns.

If I were planning to walk for 9 hours I'd start much earlier than 9 am especially in summer and I would arrange for a taxi to drive me back to Port de la Selva.
Rosas to Cadaques is approx. 6 hours and is supposed to be easy.

Pvoyageuse - many thanks for your information and advice.
As well as being "average" paced in our walking, we are also in the average department when it comes to enthusiasm. I'm afraid the idea of my other half getting up at crack of dawn to drive from Collioure for 7 am start is just not conceivable.
Plan B will involve driving to Cadaques and depending on our mood, weather etc, either walk out and back to the lighthouse or do the hike to Roses, taking a bus back.
If you have any walking suggestions on the French side of the border.........

SeeDee: you should have said you were based in Collioure !
Apart from the footpath Collioure to Cadaquès (the same one as above) there are several shorter walks : Collioure to Argeles on the coastal footpath, Collioure to Saint Elme fortress, Collioure to Madeloc tower - see for instance http://www.weezigo.com/randonnee-col...our-de-madeloc Port-Vendres to Cap Bear and back etc....
There is even an underwater footpath near Banyuls!

You'll get more info at the Tourist Office in Collioure.
The reason I suggested an early start is the heat which can be unforgiving at noon - even if there is a breeze from the sea - as there is little shade.
