Voltage
I know that I should know this seeing that I am a 43 year old male but how do I know if my electronic devices will work in Europe. I am only taking my I-POD and the charger for my camera battery. I do know that I need a converter that has the round prongs but do I also need a converter that converts 220v to 110v.I have one of those but it is kind of heavy and would rather not bring it.

Look at the white cube /charger that came with your ipod, and the same thing for the camera battery. If it says "input 110-240V", or something similar that spans the range of voltages in US and Europe they you are good to go.

"Do all european countries use the 2 round prong plugs?"
No. The British Isles use plugs with three flat pins. see http://kropla.com plug guide for more info.

The 2 prong plug will work across continental Europe, but not the UK.
See magellan.com

The dimensions of grounding outlets vary across europe, but the simple 2 prong variety will work well. I find it be a loose, flimsy fit in many places, but it works.

I took my phone and the charger was the 110-240. All I needed was the adapter and it worked like a charm. Now my traveling partner was ANOTHER story. She didn't check hers and just asumed that all she needed was the adapeter. So she plugs it in and PPFFFTT!!!!! CRACKLE!!!!!!! POP!!!!! Who turned out the lights? Not just OUR room, mind you, but the entire 5th floor of the hotel!!!!!! Her comment as I quietly handed her the phone to call the desk downstair was "well, it worked on the ship!!" They had been on a cruise earlier in the year. When she got the desk, cool as a cucumber she says "somehow the electricity seems to be off in our room." LOL Everything came back on in about five minutes but here phone charger was cooked!!!! It became a saga and believe it or not, we found one....but "that's another show".

Once, in the US, my TC plugged her hair dryer into the wall when the AC unit was on.
The entire hotel went dark.
We called the desk, and they sent a man to the utility room to check the circuit breakers.
Lights came on.
TC's hair dryer started up.
Lights went off.
Desk called.

Great story and it reminds me of our honeymoon in Majorca. I opened the wardrobe and there were two wires from what should have been a light. I thought it was a pretty dangerous thing to have as my arm just missed it.
So just for a laugh I banged the two wires together lol and the whole hotel went out lol. dodgy spanish electrics !! Probably had one fuse for the whole place.
I tucked the wire away safely and got on with the honeymoon..lol

I've used www.voltagevalet.com for info on plug adaptors around the world. You can buy them on line or in travel specialty stores. If I remember correctly they also explain adaptors vs. converters.
