Volcano View Hotel
I have seen some good reviews of this hotel on Santorini. My question is whether, as a single female traveller, would I feel too isloated in this hotel? It seems like a lot of honeymooners stay there. I have travelled solo many times, but only to major cities. I am going in early May. Any comments or other hotel suggestions would be appreciated.

I stayed there, not as a honeymooner, but with my husband. The views from the private patios are spectacular, and that's probably an understatement. However, since you asked the question, I'm not sure I would want to be there solo; I would probably choose a hotel in town, where I could come and go easily w/o relying on the hotel shuttle in the daytime or taxis at night.
I can't offhand think of the name of any of the hotels in Fira, and in fact, Oia might be my locale of choice. I'm sure you'll get some helpful replies on here. Have fun!

My wife and I stayed there for her 40th birthday. Its in Firostefani, roughly a 4 minute drive to Fira. The desk can arrange a cab. We had a suite on the lower part of the hotel. A lot of stairs for the weak kneed, but not bad. I had heard from a couple we met that the upper suites weren't as desirable. 3 swimming pools and a decent outdoor restaurant. However, I would go into town. The hotel seems like its carved right into the cliff. Again, the views. The staff was very helpful. Rent a car and visit Oia. Probably the most hair raising drive I ever took...but fun. Oia was beautiful!...Laid back and very artsy...I thought. All in all, very enjoyable.

Santorini has unfortunately been become involved in that sort of marketing obviously for economic reasons. As a single person you are much better off simply going to a different place on Santorini island. Possibly one of the seaside resorts, or to escape the 'mooney' atmosphere going to other islands. Once you have travelled thru a large number of islands Santorini becomes less than spectacular.
There are plenty of small hotels, rooms places scattered around the main town Thera, and just about every seaside place (no need to book in early May). If you are looking to luxury hotels you severely limit your choice of islands. There is in fact a relatively large percentage of single travellers throughout the islands so no worries.
