Vis or Korcula?
Hi,
We have 7 short days in Croatia and have decided on Split (with side trip to Trogir), then either Vis or Korcula and ending with Dubrovnik.
This is what we are looking for in an island: good beaches which are not ridiculously crowded, a nice town that has enough tourism to have a good selection of restaurants, shops and nightlife (no clubbing, just strolling, having a drink outdoors and people watching). We will be renting a car on the island and like to drive around and explore other beaches. For comparison, Naxos, Greece was the perfect combination of all of the above for us.
I was really leaning toward Vis but going to Vis would involve 2 ferry rides of 1.5-2.5 hours (probably 2.5 hours with our schedule) plus a 5 hour bus trip from Split to Dubrovnik. On the other hand, Korcula would only be 2 ferry rides of 2.5 hours each, giving us at least a half day extra, which is significant since we are only in Croatia for a week.
So is going to Vis worth losing an extra half day or so to ferry and bus travel? Or is Korcula just as nice, or even better, giving us more island time? While I want to hear all opinions, I'm especially in hearing from people who have been to both islands. Thanks so much for your help!

From you thread you must have found the ferry website. If Bol is any interest (a fantastic sandy spit at one end) do the ferries get there easily?
Bol has a lovely small restaurant rimed harbour, a art lined esplenade and the above mentioned sand spit.
