Villefranche & Beaulieu - looking for REALLY detailed information
Hello, Fodorites.
BF and I have put a deposit down on a villa (Villa Krisma) which has its address in Villefranche-sur-mer, but which, according to tourist maps the tourist offices have sent, seems actually to be closer to Beaulieu-sur-mer. The villa appears to be up on a mountainside.
The address of Villa Krisma is 2359 Avenue Olivula, Villefranche-sur-Mer France 06230. We are wondering if there is a pedestrian path/trail we can use in order to get down to Beaulieu. Following the roads seems to be a very convoluted route, and there is something marked as "Monte Mandarin" that looks on the map to be a stairway.
So, if there's anyone with some local knowledge of that area, we'd really appreciate any information you could give us. We're especially interested in getting to the supermarket at 40 Blvd. de Marinoni in Beaulieu on foot, but any and all information will be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance! Oh, and you can be sure there will be more questions over the next 5 months until we leave.

Luna,
I looked it up on Mappy:
http://www.mappy.co.uk/
It does not look too far from the promenade or the yacht harbor; a bit less than one kilometer, roughly. Mappy does not show the terrain, so you might get a better idea of how much of a trudge it might be by looking it up on Google Earth.
I stayed in Beaulieu-sur Mer long ago, and it was simply lovely then. I'm sure you will have a lovely time.

I am rather familiar with the areas closer to the sea of Villefranche S.M. and Beaulieu S.M. but it seems your villa is located above moyen corniche and the supermarket is inside Beaulieu town, alomost sea level, so I'm afraid it would at least be quite a hike to do those two points on foot if not impossible. Could there be a local bus line running there? Perhaps you should ask the rental agent?

Thank you both. Yes, I do believe "cliff" is a good description - that's probably why the villa has such incredible views.
kappa, there is a bus - the Crea bus, I think - that we're told stops near the villa, but we're walkers by nature and were hoping to at least walk down to the supermarket, if not back up. Oh well, I don't suppose we'll suffer for not hiking down, as there are reported to be so many nice walks in the coast area.
