Hi DebitNM, I did read the article and I must say it brought up points I had never thought of. Family members just came back from renting a house in a small town in Tuscany for three weeks. They did not have any problems thankfully, but I wonder how much they thought about security and safety.
Regarding my previous post. The house I was staying in was in a rather isolated place outside of town. Between the house and the town was an industrial section. There had been several locals that had been attacked and robbed by people from Albania who were hanging around the area (evidently homeless people) so my friends and also their friends advised me to not going walking by myself on the country lanes which I had planned on doing. I headed their advice of course. And while riding in the car with them to various places I saw some of the people that they were referring to.
There our places in SF I do not walk around in after it is dark. Same idea.
It is good for all of us to be aware of safety and security issues.
Thank you Debit for posting this thread. I did not renew my Conde Nast subscription and so would have not seen it. I should remember to check their website from time to time.
