Settle a bet. Is the last syllable TE or TAY.

More like "tay", but without a pronounced "y" sound.
Definitely not "tee".

Go to http://www.askoxford.com/languages/i...pronunciation/

and see how the letter e is pronounced.
Tay is nearer than tee but the actual sound is much shorter.

I probably live closer to Villa d'Este than any contributor on Fodor's and had my wedding reception there!

The te is short and is not tee or tay

both "E"s are pronounced the same, as in DEstiny.

no dipthings, tripthongs, or any other thongs such as would give you TAY. TEE [as in a nice cup of] is another sound altogether - more like the VI in Villa.

nochblad - you poor thing. must be tough living there!

NO IT'S NOT!

It's pronounced here - Pronunciation at 0.26 of the following video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG5erWVr76s

by an Italian journalist and not by a machine!
