Vienna/Salzburg

I am still trying to plan our Vienna part of our trip. Can someone tell me how can we go to Salzburg roundtrip and see alittle bit of it on a half day? I'm contemplating on going to Prague as a side trip (full day) then a half a day for Salzburg. Am I being realistic?

Thanks lawchick. Would it be better to skip Salzburg or Prague. I'm doing this for our 9yr old. I'm trying this as much a cultural/educational trip for him. Thanks again.

Plenty to entertain a 9 year old in Vienna alone. You don't need to go to Prague.

Suzy, I agree with lawchick, there is plenty to do in Vienna. Here are some websites that give info on things to do with kids in Vienna:

Salzburg would take about 6 hours of train riding done as a day trip. If you had a car, you might make the trip a little quicker, but traffic getting in and out of Vienna is not a trivial matter unless you were doing it on a weekend.

Even so traffic returning to Vienna on a sunny Sunday can be like any American city -- thick.

Sorry but I don't think it is worth the trip. Its OK but not worth the long train ride.

I have a better idea, how about a nice day cruise along the Danube? The scenery is beautiful!
