The Naschmarkt is about a 5 minute walk from the Karlsplatz U-Bahn stop.
Its open Mon-Fri until about sundown, and Saturday mornings. There are scores of stalls selling everything from breads to produce to fish and meats. You can also buy prepared foods such as Doner Kebab, roast chicken, and cakes/pastries. Also non-food items such as umbrellas, purses, clothes, jackets. You name it.

If you are visiting the Naschmarkt, stop in at Cafe Dreschler on the same street. It's a traditional Viennese coffee house, but it keeps unusual hours due to the fact that it serves the Naschmarkt vendors and suppliers, who work through the night. I liked the atmosphere and the strong coffee! And pay heed to the warnings about pickpockets per the posters above - just tuck your wallet close and don't lose track of it.

I forgot to mention that alongside the Naschmarkt Linke Wienzeile No.38, 40 and 42 are quite remarkable buildings. Many people are so interested in the market that they overlook them. Also quite close is the "Secession" . A museum certainly worth a visit and open on Saturday.

Naschmarkt stays open Saturday afternoon.
Freyung has periodic markets on the weekend - eg local vineyards come down some Saturdays offering their goods. Very pretty location in centre of town (and much lower pick pocket problem) but cannot guarantee day.

The farmers' market (Bauernmarkt) on Freyung takes place every first and third Friday and Saturday in a month, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
A smaller and cosier streetmarket than Naschmarkt (frequented by local residents more than tourists) is Rochusmarkt (U3 station Rochusgasse).
