Vienna Hotels
Suggestions for great hotels near the sightseeing spots? Also, if you have stayed at the Hilton(s)? was it a good hotel and was it near the places to be?
(Similar to my Prague and Budapest posts). Any info will be helpful.

We stayed at the Pension Pertschy and were really pleased. The hotel, and our room, were very nice. The hotel is fairly quite. The best thing about the hotel was its location; right in the heart of Vienna. Its an easy walk to St. Stephens and/or The Hofburg, located on a side street directly off of Graben, a pedestrian-friendly shopping area. The Stephansplatz underground station is also very close.

You didn't give your budget...in the moderate range, we also like the Kaiserin Elisabeth and have stayed there about a half dozen times in the last few years. For luxury hotels, we found the (ANA) Grand Hotel (a few doors down the street from the Bristol) to be just as nice as the Bristol or Imperial and the room I had for a week in March 2002 was actually nicer than a colleague's room at the Sacher. The lowest rate I've found for the Grand has been about 200 euro a night, excluding breakfast. In peak periods, doubles can go for 600 euros a night and up, so check around for discounts!

I'd still vote for the Konig von Ungarn. We paid 192 € for a very large twin and were really pleased with it. That's where I'd stay if I went to Vienna again. By the way, the Pertschy is a Pension not a hotel. I must be the only person who didn't think it was that great. For a pension I'd go with the Neuer Markt and get a room with a view of the Markt.
