Vienna concert seating

We will be in Vienna for the holidays and now booking concert tickets. Notice that for the Konzerthaus and Musikverein the first and second row seats are sometimes the last to sell of their category. Already have first row seats to one concert. Wondering if anyone can comment on what the first row might be like at either of these places? If anyone would like to share their experience in general at either of these concert halls (best/worst seats, how people dress) I would love to hear. There is also an option for ordering a snack online in advance for the interval, and wondering if that is the thing to do?

Thank you in advance, Malka

I've attended performances in both and for sell-out evening performances, people dressed in anything from nice casual to evening wear. In both cases, my seats were about 10 rows back, I was very happy with them. I wore dressy slacks, a cashmere sweater and pearls, and felt neither over nor underdressed.

I did not order a snack online, but (as I recall) had a glass of wine during the interval.

My only advice is to try and beat the crowd to get your coat from coatcheck after the performance. And to remember which coat check you used.

I really like the Konzerthaus. They did an excellent job renovating it.

We have sat in the front row at the Musikverein. Your knees are against the stage, and you have to look upward at the performers. This is why people prefer to sit a few rows further back. However, if the front row is all that is available, don't hesitate to sit there. It is much better than standing room in the back.

Thank you BTilke and Musicteacher.

Musicteacher, your description of first row is worrying! At least second row might be better than first? Have you sat in first row at Konzerthaus?

No. I have not sat in the front row at the Konzerthaus.
