Vienna State Opera Cheap Obstructed View Seats
I am within a few days of being able to buy tickets for the Vienna State Opera. Twice before we have done the "stand-up" option and we decided to try the cheap tickets so we can at least sit down. I am trying to find out if one area of obstructed view seats is any better than another. It appears that all the cheap seats will have an obstructed view (understandably so.) I have reseached the seating chart/prices etc. on www.staatsoper.at. Hopefully someone has purchased such and can give me an idea.

Generally the obstructed view seats are those in the loge ( boxes) along the sides of the Opera House. Most all in rows 2 and 3 of the boxes.
The lower the number of the box regardless of level is the most obstructed 1-10 . 1 would be closest to the stage. Due to the severe angle of the seating arrangements one can only see a portion of the stage.
The higher the number of the box ( example 8-10 ) the angle is less severe and you can see a little more.
The acoustics are still OK - just the view is the trouble. If much of the act is placed toward the side of the stage toward your box - the less seen.
Still much better than standing room.

Molker, thank you so much for your response. I have again looked at the seating chart and think I have it figured out. I notice that the seats of choice that you have mentioned are the first to go. It appears that the Logen Parterre, Logen 1 Rang, and Logen 2 Rang (Box 10 or 9) would be closer to the center. Would the higher or lower (to the floor) be the best view?
