Via Cavour Florence

Hi all, I'm booked at the Hotel Gioia on the Via Cavour in Florence. Does anyone know it? I think the location is good, the price wasn't bad for a Dble w/private bath and breakfast - $130. I'd just be interested to know if any of you were familiar with this hotel??? Thanks for all replies!

I don't know that hotel but stayed at Hotel Casci, also on Via Cavour. It's a great location. A short walk to most sites and also an outdoor market. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Just don't try to drive there -- our Michelin map didn't even help. Lots of one ways, lots of parks and piazzas, very hard to lose your way. But once you're there, you are in the thick of things and can walk everywhere. (We stayed at Hotel Casci -- pronounced Cashee, by the way!)

Hi Dottri-
I am looking at staying at the Hotel Gioia in Florence in July. What did you think of it? Was it a good location to the main attractions?
Thanks!

We too stayed at the Casci. I asked the hotel for directions and they e-mailed them to us. They were good directions until we got in the piazza that Via Cavour veers off of. We missed it twice and then finally managed to hit it. If I can find the directions I'll post them because they were very helpful.

As the others have said, the location is great. Good nearby neighborhood type restaurants and easy walking distance to lots of sites.

Florence is wonderful, enjoy yourself.

j
