venice transportation: ship to train
We will be ending a cruise in Venice, arring at Stazione Marritima. I want to go to the train station from there. Other than arranging it through the cruise line, what are my options, and what are the costs?
thanks

Cruise ships berth in several places in Venezia. If it's the Stazione Marittima, it's about a ten-minute walk to the Piazzale Roma, then another short walk or one stop on a vaporetto to the railway station. Alilaguna runs a limited service to San Marco (www.alilaguna.it). There's no alternative by public transport to the railway, so you're dependent on any transport provided by the shipping line or a taxi (a car can take you to Piazzale Roma or a boat to the railway).

Hi DP - Rather than S. Lucia station - which isn't accessible by road - it would be more convenient IMO (- especially with luggage) to take a taxi direct to Mestre station on the mainland.
10 mins ride from Staz Maritimma. Probably about € 15
Hope this helps ...
