private water taxi?
We are trying to find a hotel in Venice that we can get to easily from the airport and then to cruise ship. We are staying in Venice 2 nights before cruise in Oct, 05.
Has been suggested to stay in area near railway station...
Some hotels say that a 'private water taxi' will bring us right to their hotel door. Are these terribly expensive? Approx how much for 2 people with luggage? Hotel Capri or Hotel Carlton have been recommended? Any info on them?
I appreciate any suggestions or info you can give me. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Good morning, TAW
The HOTEL CARLTON is located on the Grand Canal just across from the Venice SL railway station and about a block from the Pza Roma, would suggest if you use the Carlton to take the bus from Marco Polo to the Pza Roma and walk the last block.. Did stay at the
Carlton many years ago, was remodeled
a few years back, plenty of shops and ristorantes around and starting points for walking to the Rialto about 10-15 min and Pza S. Marco another 5 min .by a number of different routes..
Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..

Venice is a small place and you should have no trouble getting in from the airport and then to the cruise ship, regardless of where you are staying. You can take a relatively inexpensive water shuttle to/from the airport. There's nothing particularly compelling about the area around the train station. Use the Search function to discussion of numerous places to stay in Venice.
