Venice to San G.
My husband and I pick-up our rental car in Venice and will head to villa in Barberino Val d'Elsa (outside San G)- Oct. 4th. We plan to head to the rental office early and take a leisurely drive.
Are there any recommendations on stops along the way? A good spot for lunch perhaps?
We will have Michelin map and GPS.
Thanks

The last time we drove down from Venice we just found a restaurant sign on the freeway and drove to a country place. It was great, no one spoke English and it was a delightful lunch. Verona is interesting to walk around, I have also heard that the mosaics in Ravenna are spectacular.
I have a couple of lunch ideas after you arrive in Barberino. We have gone to that area for the last 7 years. My very favorite is Stephano's place, Cantinetta Rignatta, which is to the East of Barberino (sort of up the hill, down the valley, another hill... it's just past Badia a Passignano) Rignanna is one of the best and most authentic in Tuscany. Also Alto Certaldo has a great high end restaurnat. Lamole d Lamole (in Lamole.. dah...east of Greve)is great. There are so may more. If you want to look we have a web site vinorossoidaho.com were we have listed some of our favorite Tuscan wineries and places to eat.

hi aquagirl,
if you want to do some advance research, why not put your route into www.viamichelin.com and have a look at the restaurant options along the route.
print it off and take it with you, so when you fancy a stop, you'll know what's nearby.
regards, ann
