Venice to Interlaken Switzerland

I will be leaving Venice on April 16th with plans to spend the evening in Interlaken on the 17th. Looking for suggestions of where to stop inbetween and especially hotel recommendations for night of 16th. Thinking of visiting Bergamo & Lake Como on 16th. Want to stop in Zermatt and not sure where else on 17th. thanks in advance

Hi Rob - As your route to Zermatt will be via Milan, I'd suggest Varenna or Como.

If you prefer to be nearer Zermatt - maybe Stresa?

Hope this helps ...

Can't help you with hotels, I'm afraid, as I only day-tripped there.

I suggest you re-post for 'Stresa hotels' - hopefully you'll get some personal recommendations. Good luck ...

Rob - You really need to start a new post -

'Seeking Stresa hotel recommendations'

... or something similar - to attract the attention of people who have stayed there and can help.

Hope this helps ...

Rob - If you're thinking of going all the way to Zermatt there's no way you can see both Bergamo and Lake Como en route as well, I think ...

If you don't want to stay overnight on Lake Como or Stresa, an attractive alternative might be Lugano. Otherwise ... Milan?

Zermatt is not easy to get to, and the Berner Oberland is better. Train to Stresa and from there the ride is very nice via Simplon Pass, Brig and the tunnel to Kandestag. Also, more direct.

Bob,
I will be traveling by car. Direct route isn't as important as scenic route . I will be staying 3 nights in Lauterbrunnen so I will have plenty of time to explore the
Berner Oberland.
Steve:
Thanks for the suggestions... Still not sure... too many choices
