Como to Switzerland

Can anyone tell me if you can travel by train from Como into Switzerland? I do not want to have to travel from the lake district back to Milan to get to Switzerland. Thanks

Where in Switzerland?
There are fairly frequent trains from Como to Lugano, some direct, some with a change.

Yes. Lots of them. The Milan trains usually stop at Como and head to Zurich

Go to rail.ch for timetables. From the station in the town of Como, it will take about 5 to 6 hours and require one or more changes. Extremely easy to do, very pretty ride.

Personally, I would skip Interlaken and go right into the mountains. Consider Wengen, Murren, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald or Gimmelwald. Interlaken is not a charming town and looks toward the mountains, but IMO does not have the wow factor of being IN the mountains.

SN - For Interlaken I think your best route would be via Brig and Spiez from Milan.

You can reach Milan in just over an hour from Varenna.

Hope this helps ...
