Venice parking...the airport?
We are driving to Venice...and staying 4 days. Is it true that the best/cheapest place to park is the airport @5E per day? We don't plan on using our car...just to get there...and depart.

hi, ourjetboat,
this website gives details of all the charges:
http://www.visit-venice-italy.com/tr...nice-italy.htm
looks as if the airport is the cheapest, but then you have to add the cost of getting into Venice from the airport and out again - it used to be €3 pp each way on the ATVO bus, [bus stop just in front of the airport entrance/exit doors] but it may have gone up to as much as €5 by now. The ACTV bus may be a bit cheaper but it stops more often and you have to put your luggage inside rather than underneath.
or if you want to splash out, there's the alilaguna or even a water taxi, but if you're worried about the cost of the car park [sensibly IMO] you probably won't be interested in them!

the ACTV bus is the no 5 line - the other lines they run are indeed mostly water buses or vaporetti eg the no 1 vaporetto goes from P. Roma [where the bus stops] along the grand canal to Piazza San Marco.
The ATVO bus goes more or less straight to the P. Roma where you can pick up the same vaporetto or any of the others that stop there.
there are a no of ferries [alilaguna] that go from the water dock at the airport across the lagoon to various places in Venice - San Marco, the Rialto, etc. but they are more expensive - about €14 each, each way. [you could use them to go one way, and then get the vaporetto and bus combo back].
the most expensive method of travel is a water taxi - about €100 each way from the airport to your accommodation in venice.
