Venice - one night

Any suggestions for one night's lodging? We're going from Florence for just a day & night so need to be convenient to sights.

My suggestion is that you stay near Piazzale Roma to be convenient to your transportation. There is a lovely Sofitel (expensive) within a 5-minute walk if you are driving. Other Fodorites can suggest hotels on the same side as the Train terminal if you are coming/leaving by train.

San Marco, the main tourist site, is about a 10-20 minute Vap (water bus) ride. Sofitel had a private water taxi when we were there quite a few years ago.

Thanks for that info - we will come by train so that will make a difference in where we need to stay.

Are you also leaving by train or meeting a cruise?

Sofitel Florence is now Cerretani Firenze.

Florence is small so I would choose based on your taste and budget.

Nice 4 star hotels in the center include Hotel Berchielli, Hotel Pierre.
