Hi Cato
3 of us shared a triple room w/bath last May at this B&B:
Ca'Turelli
We found it and booked it through veniceby.com. Look under B&Bs.
In May we paid 120 euros for a triple, so a double would probably fit your price range. They only have a few rooms, though.
Our room was quiet and comfortable with a courtyard view (I think the doubles have a canal view). Room was simple and clean, with a few antique-ish pieces and a Venetian glass light fixture. Bath was nice and large. Breakfast was pretty good as well.
The location is great -- on a quiet "rio" in the Dorsoduro neighborhood. I would recommend it and would stay there again.
(If you have a little more to spend, I can HIGHLY recommend Casa Martini (casamartini.it)

We stayed at Villa Stella in May and LOVED it. We've been to Venice several times before and actually thought it was fun staying in Lido, taking the vaperetto to "town" and back to the hotel at night. It's a charming family hotel with a wonderful breakfast and very helpful staff. Check it out at www.venice-hotel.villastella.com.

Stayed at Casa Rezzonico in Venice - absolutely loved it! I'd definitely stay there next time. I think we paid 150E per night for a canal view room.

Look into the Hotel Riva - it's in your price range, and for 10 euro more, you can get a corner room with canal view from two windows.
Sandro, the proprietor, is helpful and very, very friendly.
The accommodations meet your criteria - private bath and breakfast. The rooms are adequate - the furniture isn't new, but then I don't really care if I get a beautiful old building with beamed ceilings and proximity to everything I went to Venice to see.
The location will almost certainly exceed your expectations. Located on the "corner" of two canals, it's a very short 5-minute walk to San Marco, about 10 minutes to the Rialto.
The gondoliers sing as they pass your window (sigh)...

I "just" got back from Venice not two weeks ago, and stayed at the San Lio Tourist House. Exceptionally clean, exceptionally secure, exceptionally quiet, and in high season, 120 euros a night for a double with private bathroom (with the world's most fantastic shower!!!!). You have keys to the front doors (an exterior door, and interior door, and to your hotel room). It is literally 2 minutes from the Rialto Bridge, between the Bridge and San Marco square. Walking time to San Marco, 7 minutes. Just up the street is a fabulous rosticceria where you can have a half chicken, potatoes, and a glass of win for 8 Euros (and surprisingly is filled almost exclusively with locals!). Can't recommend it highly enough. You can prebook through www.hostelworld.com (go to Venice: San Lio Tourist Home) to check other visitor's opinions, or do a websearch, as they are listed with a huge number of budget accomodation sites.
Enjoy your trip!

Great location for walking everywhere, nice big rooms. The website says room rate is 140E for a double -- you can offer to pay cash and probably get it for less because you're staying four nights. I was there in May of 2004. Loved it.
