Venice in February at La Calcina

We are thinking of going to Venice for 7 days the first week of February, staying at La Calcina. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Virginia,

Sorry, not sure I understood your question. Do you want suggestions on what to see in Venice, or about La Calcina? As you probably know, La Calcina gets high ratings on this forum.

Best wishes, SusanEva

La Calcina is a wonderful hotel!! It's quite popular so make sure you can get a reservation before you stew too much over it. I've only been to Venice in the summer-times.

We currently have a reservation at La Calcina, so thanks for the affirmation. I am hoping to find an airfare sale to Venice in the next week or so... I guess my concern was about the weather in February and whether the cold will detract to much from our visit. Also, any recommendations for what to do or restaurants are always welcome and helpful.

Where are you from? I usually visit Venice in Winter, Nov - Feb. I'm used to it, am well prepared, am warmly dressed so winter un Venice is not a problem at all TO ME.

kappa,
We are from Richmond, VA, but have traveled to Europe in winter before and also to national parks in the winter, etc. We have all the right clothing, etc. So, you are correct, we should be great.

It truly is one of my favorite hotels ever. They have a delightful breakfast included in the room price, assume it would be served in the tiny charming dining room off the lobby since the weather will be cold (in summer it is served out on the deck over the canal).
