Venice Hotels
A few years back, I had a copy of Fodor's for Italy. On the back cover of the book, was a glossy photo of a bargain (?) hotel room in Venice that was stunning... to say the least. I believe the year of the book was 1999 or 1998. Does anyone know what hotel that was?

haven't stayed there but I have this info
Hotel Bernardi-Semenzato, Campo SSS Apostoli, Cannaregio 4366 From Italian Cooking magazine Dec 01: "Luxury accommodations at bargain prices." Near Rialto Bridge. Tel. (041) 52 27 257
(041) 52 22 424
See comments elsewhere here at fodors.com, click on Venice hotels, Rants and Raves ratings. The Annex building is recommended. Also do a search for it on this message board, there have been comments in the past.

hotel Bernardi Semenzato- Loved it!!
Stay in Annex only room 1 and 2 nice and huge!! We had five people. Had an emergency and had to go to the Venice hospital. The owner led the way. Everyone could not have been nicer. Did not love the main hotel. Very small. Wanted to post this info for anyone looking for a great family hotel in Venice!!!!

We just returned from Italy and stayed at a hotel around the corner from the Bernardi S hotel. You may be disappointed if you are looking for anything close to luxury. We were at the Giorgione and it was fabulous. You may want to give second thought to the Bernardi (unless money is your only driving force).
Good luck
