Venice Hotels - $200/night or less

We've officially decided to splurge in Venice. Looking for the most romantic, well located (b/w Rialto-San Marco area) hotel we can possibly find. Would like a canal view of some sort. Wondering what the best bang for the buck might be. Thanks for your help.

Hi

Try a canal-view room at the hotel Marconi. It's right at the foot of the Rialto.

recommend antico doge which is a very short walk from rialto (away from san marco). very quiet and very nice place. (campo san apostoli)

they offer a 10% discount if you pay by cash.

tons of pictures on charmingvenice.com

hersch4.. You might want to check out a hotel site for Italy called ItalyBy.com. It used to be CharmingItaly.com and has a lot of really interesting hotels to consider. Many are more boutique style. I have stayed at two different hotels in Venice, one being the Concordia Hotel, which is right off of San Marco Square, but does not overlook any canals. They do have some rooms that actually overlook the Square. I didn't happen to have one of them. It is a smaller hotel and very quaint. The big draw back is that the rooms tend to be small, but I have heard the ones that overlook the Square are larger. I also stayed at a Best Western called the Caveletto E Doge(SP?) and this one is also just off of the Square on a canal that you walk across a bridge to get to. The canal the hotel is on has a docking area for gondolas. I really liked both places and they are, or at least were, in the price range you're looking for. The Caveletto is the more expensive one. Hope this helps. Have a great trip. Venice is awesome!!

I also recommend the Antico Doge. Very nice new hotel (in a 15th century bldg) in an excellent location.

Check out www.locanda-sanbarnaba.com just a word of warning veniceby.com is a great site for viewing hotels, but be ware of their very steep cancelation policies.
Best of luck

How long will you be staying in Venice?

There is a really nice B&B right by Rialto-San Marco area. I was going to stay there but want a differant location not so close to that area.

Here is the link if you'd like to take a look. http://www.sleepinitaly.com/venice/f...asatriano.html

Have fun!

have you checked out Tripadvisor.com?
Their information can be very helpful!

We are traveling to Venice in end of Sept and are staying at the Hotel Bernardi.com. Not terribly expensive but recommended by a friend. We will see how it works out!!

We really like the Ala in Venice. It is a small hotel about 10 minutes slow walk from San Marco. It is on a small canal and has canal views from many rooms.

I haven't been to Venice but I was able to bood the Wildner there for a little over $211. My thinking is that it's right next store to the (as Fodor says) ultra-lux Danielli with the same view but not the price. So you can have a drink at the luxe and then retire to your comfortable yet reasonably priced hotel. Has anyone stayed at the Wildner?

my husband I just stayed at the Wildner last week and LOVED it. It was wonderful, couldn't have been better. Perfect location, gorgeous room (be sure to get a room with a lagoon view, we had room #16), very helpful staff. I definitely recommend the Wildner! Here's the Web site if that helps (the room we stayed in is pictured on the home page): http://veniceby.com/hotelwildner/

Best of luck with your trip!

My wife and I have stayed at the Accademia Villa Maravege and really like it. Unusually, I think, it has a relatively large garden area which we enjoyed. Its on the Grand Canal, in the Dorsoduro which is my favorite district. Dorsoduro is much less touristy than the areas around San Marco on the other side of the Grand Canal but only a 15 minute walk from those areas. And, icing on the cake, to my mind the best enoteca in Venice is just a few steps away (Bottegon on the San Travaso Canal)

I would also recommend Ca Pisani very highly. Its a relatively new very well regarded hotel in the Dorsoduro. It may be more than 200. though and there are no canal views.

I always recommend Locanda Sturion near the Rialto. Check out their web site for further details.

Hi

Is it really that important to stay in the Rialto San Marco area? My wife and I went to Venice in June and we stayed at the hotel Continental and we had two big windows facing Canal Grande and it was nice. The hotel is located near the train station by the way but it didn't really matter because Venice is not that big and it is easy to get around

I have posted a "review" of the hotel in my trip report on my homepage www.gardkarlsen.com. You will also find quite a lot of pictures there from Venice. Have a GREAT trip

Regards
