Venice Hotel/B&B with canal views
Looking for a clean, comfortable hotel or B&B with views of a canal--it doesn't have to be the Grand Canal. I read a review of Locanda Orseolo where someone said they had enjoyed hearing the godeliers from their room and thought it sounded amazing. A little balcony or terrace would be a dream. We are in Venice June 2-5 and Locanda Orseolo seems to be booked. Can anyone suggest something similar? Willing to pay $400 if the hotel is spectacular, but would rather a little less.

Hi
The Locanda Ca'Le Vele - http://www.locandalevele.com - is showing 190 euro a night for a Junior suite with canal view. No balcony though.

Hello, Franco! I read your posts/threads at length today and found them all so very helpful! You have such a way with words. I had been considering a B&B in the Cannaregio area, but when I read a post you wrote about the importance of being in a good location, I was inspired to contact the Locanda Orseolo (in San Marco) directly on the telephone to see if they had any rooms available. Locanda had received so many glowing reviews about service and location, I had to try to call directly (the websites said no vacancy). Speaking with Gigi was such a pleasure! He booked a room for us with a canal view and we have already exchanged a number of emails. Your posts inspired me to take the step and call--thank you! We are so excited for our trip!

My wife and I stayed at http://www.hotelamerican.it/ in May 2011. It was fantastic ! On a side canal - we really enjoyed the area. On a canal leading leading into the Grand canal it was fantastic. We woke up each morning to the daily sounds of the neighborhood, the residents talking, catching a smoke, the art students photographing shoes, the women across the canal taking it all in.
