Venice Hotel

We are trying to decide between Hotel Violino d'Oro or Hotel Antico Doge. We are planning on spending our 50th Wedding Anniversary and want something well located that is resonably quiet, with an elevator. Has anyone seen both of these hotels, or have any comments?

I have not seen these specific hotels, but if you check www.tripadvisor.com,you will probably find some reviews of them.

You have 2 threads with the same questions. I hope you will read this.

You mention 2 hotels here and two others on another thread. Probably Ala does not have elevator from what I heard but I'm not sure. 3 others are 3* too, aren't they? Many 3* hotels in Venice don't have elevators so you better be careful if it is a must.

The followings are the hotels I have stayed and HAVE ELEVATOR and could well be within you budget but you don't say when you are going. Remember room rates change quite a lot according to the seasons. USD300 is easily enough for low season, probably ok for middle, might be a bit tight for high.

Foscari Palace - 4*+, Cannaregio area, 2 min.walk to water bus stop Ca d'Oro. Facing Grand Canal. Stayed here twice in recent years and can recommend without hesitation. Very reasonably priced for the quality they provide.

Savoia e Jolanda - 4+, Castello, on the quay promenade facing San Marco Lagoon. Try their offer "Why Not" for 2 nights (details on their web site), 3 minute walk to Piazza San Marco, water bus stop San Zaccaria is just in front of the hotel.

Bisanzio - 3*, Castello, 2 middle sized bridges farther than S e J to Piazza San Marco, just off the quay.

I do recommend you to check tripadvisor.com for more reviews of the hotels you mentioned and mines. If you can not find hotels's web site, let me know. I have them.

Happy anniversary travel planning !
