Dear Kappa1,
Thanks so much for writing. Makes me happy to know it is a good choice.
Don't know how I snagged a good price but that's what came up in my search.
Looked the other day and price for the same dates was $50 more.
So must have been my lucky day. Sounds like you Love Venice - having been there so many times.
thanks again.

Hi,
Got back a couple of days ago. Pensione Accademia was a total winner. Thanks for validating it. Didn't think I woiuld sit in the garden but weather was wonderful and came back in the afternoon to relax and knit before heading out again. Loved Venice. Didn't do as much as I thought I would but loved it.
Thanks again.

So nice of you to have come back, happy that you enjoyed your stay at Pensione Accademia. I have been staying at different hotels in different areas since some time but your post makes me want to stay there again. Maybe next time.

I'm so glad to see that you enjoyed Venice. We like hotels with outdoor seating areas to have a place to decompress with a G&T in the afternoons. Doing that in Venice is especially nice. Not getting around to as much as you planned means you have an excuse to go back! I can't wait to get back there, myself.

Cheers!

From the alert I saw yesterday, it looks like Venice is having an excpetional Aqua Alta today.
www.veniceforyou.com/highwaterprev.html

Max. 150cm at 14h00 and min. 115cm at 19h00. Piazza San Marco (the lowes point of Venice ) and the surrounding areas can be under water all day. This is unusual as generally Aqua Alta lasts for a few hours, and not for the day. Today duckboards in that area can be useless, water going higher than that. I read also the schools are closed. Museums also.
https://m.facebook.com/story.php…

I had my worst aqua alta in December 2005. It was about 120cm and some duck boards at Piazza San Marco were half under water. It is worse this time. I must admit I enjoyed it, rather well prepared (with knee high rain shoes even though it was useless at Piazza San Marco) , sunny sky that provided lots of nice photo chances. And the water was completely gone by 14h00. Not this time if the forecast is correct.

Wen to see a webcam now. What, there is no water and P San Marco is as crowded ? Then I saw it was OFFLINE.
https:/…piazza-san-marco.html

By the way, Aqua Water level 150cm does not mean the water is 150cm high at Piazza San Marco. In 2005 at 120cm, the highest was about 50 - 80 cm depending on which side of Piazza.

City of Venice recommends "to say home" as long as you have no need to go out. But if you are visiting Venice at this moment, it would be hard not to go out. Whatever you do, do not go swim in the water, that's nor clean ! You will be swimming with garbage and dead animals ( pigeons and rats ). I remember seeing pictures of (stupid) tourists in swimming pants at P.San Marco with big smile ......

Hi,
Don't have experience with other places there but thought this one was a winner. Don't eat at the restaurant across the small bridge from there.
Was directed there by staff but it was a really bad choice. There were, however, across that same bridge and turning right, 2 wine bars that served wonderful
cicchetti. Happy travels.
