Visiting Ireland in December
My husband and I foud some great flight deals to Dublin for December 14-21! We're interested in going that week. I understand that the days are shorter and colder and the weather is not the best, but the thought of spending some time in Dublin around Christmas sounds charming. Has anyone spent time in Ireland during the winter? If so, is it worth it?

I was certain that I had seen a trip report by someone who had visited Ireland in December, but I can't find it.
On the TripAdvisor Ireland forums, there are a number of people who live in Dublin or nearby, and there has been a fair number of questions about visiting in December. If you go to the Ireland forum on Tripadvisor and search for "Dublin December" you should get some useful information.
Given the short time, and the likelihood of wet weather, I think I would stay in Dublin the whole time, maybe with a day trip or two.

I agree with bvlenci. Don't plan on scenic touring because you can't expect suitable weather - but you might get lucky when you are here.
Day-trip possibilities, using trains, include Belfast and Kilkenny.
