Venice Churches and Museums Hours -- Anything I should be aware of?
Hi, would like to ask the same questions for Venice, as I did for Florence:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34647906
The plan is to be in Venice on the first Sunday in September (depending on whether I can get a hotel -- I understand the Venice Film Festival is at this time).
Since I don't have much time, I'm not planning a great deal. I was in Venice once in 1999.
San Marco:

Open Sunday afternoon.
Accademia:

Looks like it's open until 7:15 pm. True? I'm a little skeptical of museum hours in Italy, I must admit. On my previous trip, I tried to go to Accademia and it was closed (forget why).
Palazzo Ducale:
Looks like it's open until 7 pm.

I saw this on my other trip to Venice (in 1999), and I'm ok with skipping it this time if I don't have time. I didn't do the Secret Itineraries' Tour.
On that trip I also went to San Rocco and Frari. I think that I'll skip both on this trip. I'm not looking to pack too much on the Venice part because the Biennale will be on, and I think that I'll spend some time seeing contemporary art.
But if there're one or two other things I should definitely see, let me know.
Thanks!

You might drop by your local bookstore and either peruse or purchase the Fodor's Best 25 things to do in Venice for a concise overview, complete with walking tours, hours of operation, etc. We went into a bunch of churches during our 2 days in Venice and enjoyed them all. But they all nickle and dime you to death with their entry fees. If you plan on going into a lot of them, you may be able to save money by purchasing a ticket which will allow you to enter all the churches except St. Marks and maybe one other. The ticket can be bought at any ticket office in the participating churches. I forget the fee, maybe 15 euros? For St. Marks, buy your ticket on-line before you leave to avoid the long lines. I wish we had. A very recent trip report gave the web site.

Don't asume published info is correct. In Italy days and times of closing change frequently - who knows why.
If you're headed for a special place and have very limited times to do things check (or ask your concierge to do so) before you go.

Thanks for the tips so far.
"Don't asume published info is correct."
I know. That's why I'm checking here also. Figured that some people may have more accurate first-hand information.
