Venetians unhappy with Berendt book

There is an article in today's New YorkTimes Arts section (sorry I do not know how to provide the link) that describes the reaction displayed by many Venetians to the book, "City of Fallen Angels." Maybe someone can write the link here for anyone who would like to read the piece.

Hi ek,

You can post a link by highlighting the URL under "Address" on your internet browser, clicking CTRL+C to copy.

Then, in your post, click CTRL+V to paste.

If it is a long URL, go to www.tinyurl.com after copying the URL and get a short URL.

Copy and paste as above.

The reason for the tinyurl is that the Fodors computer can't handle long ones very well and it messes up the posting format.

Ira, thank you but my computer savvy may well be far too meagre for even these clear instructions. I have a Mac; does that change anything? If not, I will give it a try later today, when I can pour myself a nice glass of wine after I get frustrated, which I fear will happen rather soon after I attempt to do this.

Getting back to the subject at hand, the article is interesting....just as the book is interesting when taken for what it is: a series of anecdotes and character sketches, some true, some embellished for dramatic effect....just as Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was!

To copy a link, go to the "Address" window in your browser (I don't know what it's called) and select (highlight) the whole link.

PC: Do Ctrl-C.
Mac: I guess it would be Apple key-C.

Then PC users can do Ctrl-V to paste. Mac users? Would Apple key-V work? (Or perhaps App-P?)

If the link is long, go to a site like tinyurl.com which will tidy up the link for me. Repeat the two steps above.

"don't know what it's called" (in the Mac, I mean)

You're probably using Safari or Firefox, but the layout should be similar to MS-IE.

ekscrunchy,

Thanks for pointing this article out - I surely would have missed it.

I agree with Howard's comments exactly!

And well-written IMO and, thanj=kfully, dispelling some of the more commonly-held myths about the city and its inhabitants.

At least he actually WENT there to write it.

Read "Alibi" by Joseph Kanon. Doubt if the Venetians would object to his depiction, but maybe they would??
