Vendome or Chinon?

Does anyone have any feedback on whether we should spend a night in Vendome or Chinon before going to Paris?

Thank you!!

Paris, We fly into Paris in the afternoon, and plan to take a train to the Loire Valley when we arrive for a night or two, then spend the rest of of our time in Paris before we go to England.
Id rather end in Paris!

Been to both several times - Chinon to me is much nicer - one of if not the nicest town IMO in the stretch of the Loire.

Vendome is an extremely historic city and has a nice old-world flare and a big crumbling palace but is just another city otherwise.

Chinon lovingly sits on a river and there are wine houses right in town.

Vendome however I think is significantly closer to Paris perhaps?

Dreaming - it does rather depend where you are going in the Loire and the train timetables.

if you are only going as far as Tours and Blois, then there's no need to go to Vendome. if you are going further west, then Chinon may be more convenient.

going to the Loire for a night or two may not be long enough to make the journey worthwhile - I'd give it 3 nights and hire a car at Tours, and many of the chateaux are much easier to get to in a car than by public transport.
