Day Trips or Loire Valley?

First of all I had it in my mind that we (my husband & I) would go to Loire Valley for over nite,(we would be gone for 2 days) (staying at Domaine des haut) during our 10 stay in Paris. Then I thought maybe we should just do day trips? say Monet's home? My husband thinks I should keep to our original schedule? any opinions?
thanks again!jobie

One overnight out of 10 days in Paris is a good thing to do--you'll need a break from city life! But you could also do a half-day trip to Giverny and a day trip out to Versaille. Ten days is a very nice amount of time; you can afford to tuck in some out-of-Paris experiences.

I hope you'll be able to take at least one of Malcolm Miller's tours of the Chartres Cathedral--they are magnificent. It helps to have a pair of binoculars to see the detail in the stained-glass windows.

Enjoy your trip to the Loire Valley and your stay at the Domaine des Hautes de Loire.

Underhill,
thanks again, we will take our binoculars!
We are very early risers, so Iam sure we will be on the train either going there first, or driving our rental car on May 1st. to Chartres.(I have read in other posts that Malcolm Miller does 2 tours a day, I'll figure out when they are) (Iam hoping it will be open on May Day.)

I would look at staying 2 nights in the Loire Valley. Of course that depends on your tolerence for Chateau. Last time I spent 10 days and plan on going back again in the next year or two.

Onzain is a favorite village of mine (altho I stay at the much less expensive Chateau des Tertes)
