That is probably true. Most people who are not used to cooking for vegetarians do not have a clue.
I used to eat as little meat as possible (I continued to eat fish) but, since that was a non-religious decision on my part, I made a decision to eat meat when I was travelling.
Not for the purists, I know.

We liked Artemisa when we were in Madrid ten years ago. They still get decent reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp.

Veggie food outisde of Madrid and Barcelona can be a problem. And as noted above, even some of the places mentioned above may not pass muster for some veggie people.

I found a good Italian restaurant (I know that seems a bit wrong) on the main road between Hotel Hospes and the fountain (by old post office -on corner of the road to the museums). Sorry this is a bit vague, but I think you'd find it from this. It's logo is a spiral and it's called something like inspirale
