Vegetarian Madrid website
Just found this and thought it might be of use to those traveling to Spain.

Thanks for this, I was somewhat worried about my diet in Spain (and it doesn't help that my Spanish best friend teased me that I would starve and that his mother wouldn't know how to cook for me).

Hope it can be useful. Of course there are numerous vegetarian dishes but if don't speak the language it may be difficult for you to decipher which they are on a menu or ask about ingredients.

"his mother wouldn't know how to cook for me"
That is probably true. Most people who are not used to cooking for vegetarians do not have a clue. I used to eat as little meat as possible (I continued to eat fish) but, since that was a non-religious decision on my part, I made a decision to eat meat when I was travelling. Not for the purists, I know. |
We liked Artemisa when we were in Madrid ten years ago. They still get decent reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp.

Veggie food outisde of Madrid and Barcelona can be a problem. And as noted above, even some of the places mentioned above may not pass muster for some veggie people.
In Spain a veggie restaurant is a place where they serve less pork in the dish. |
I found a good Italian restaurant (I know that seems a bit wrong) on the main road between Hotel Hospes and the fountain (by old post office -on corner of the road to the museums). Sorry this is a bit vague, but I think you'd find it from this. It's logo is a spiral and it's called something like inspirale
