Val Gardena in May
I'm going through the Val Gardena brochure and the website valgardena.it for accommodation for 3 nights in the last week of May. In all the towns (Ortisei, Selva Gardena and S. Cristina) there are so many lovely options for B&Bs and hotels (below 100 euros/room).
I'm not able to decide
. Given the May end timing, is it advisable to book in advance or can we take a chance and reach there and hunt for rooms?
Please advise!! Thanks.

Hi TB - May is low season - so you'll have absolutely no problem finding accm when you arrive (- there are several thousand guest beds in Val Gardena).
One simple solution is to go straight to the Tourist Office in Ortisei - or wherever you choose to base. They are super-efficient and will find you options in no time ...
Hope this helps ...

I like to advise you which is, IMO, one of the best accomodations in the whole Val Gardena.
The town is SELVA DI VAL GARDENA and the D&B is CHALET GERARD www.chalet-gerard.com .
The restaurant is excellent, the chef is Lady Mussner, the owner.
The rooms are large, very comfortable and with magnificent views.
A little Paradise, my God.
My suggestion, anyway, is to reserve because if it is true that it is low season is also true that many hotels are closed so that the rate between demand and offer is almost the same that in the high season.

Hi Steve, Rbnwdlr and Vincenzod for your quick responses.
Rbnwdlr - Villa park is closed in May (had written earlier to them).
Vincenzod - the CHALET GERARD looks wonderful - though its out of my budget (I'm on a strict one here
)
Steve - thanks for the advice. I've been reading your other posts on the Dolomite areas and have very carefully noted your recommendations on the scenic drives. Thanks!!
