We stayed at #38 in late June this year. We really liked the apartment. It says accomodates 4 but I would not want more than 3 and preferably 2 in the apartment. It is close to lots of things and quite busy during the day. I would caution you to be careful if you are out at night. There is a park nearby with a few unsavory looking characters but everything seems fine and safe during the day. All in all I think it would be a good choice and we will likely stay there again.

There were enought towels in the apartmen, but not good quality. So if you are particular you should probably bring your own. Also, it had a VHS player but no DVD. We brought a protable DVD player and used it.

Just back from ten days in Paris, where we stayed in that very apt. There were three of us and we didn't feel crowded, but were out and about in the city most of the time.

The apt mgr, Morgan, is very helpful and always available by phone without being intrusive.

The apt is cleverly arranged to maximize storage, lots of closet space and more for suitcases under the big, comfortable bed in the bedroom. The mattress on the fold out sofa in the living/kitchen/dining room is equally high quality.

The kitchen is a joy to cook in, all new appliances and a full set of copper pots. Expresso machine, washer/dryer combo, fully stocked wicker picnic basket.

The toilet/sink and the shower/sink are in separate rooms. The toilet room is basically a closet, but adequate for the purpose. The shower room has a medicine cabinet and a tall, standing cabinet for make-up, towels, hair dryer (provided), etc.

The entire apt is spotless, with cool, overhead track lighting. Very quiet location close to the Latour Maubourg metro stop, just up the avenue from Le Florimond restaurant and the rue Cler market street. The neighborhood is safe even late at night.

Croque Madame- are you talking about having stayed in #74 or #38? If it was 74, what was the shower like? And where were the bathroom and WC located -thru the bedroom or off the living room area? K

Well, thank you, Mz Scarlett! Good to be home.

kbrennan: It was #74 in which we stayed, on the Avenue de la Motte Picquet at #7. (You can look it up on pagesjaunes.fr to view the exterior of the apartment bldg.)

The toilet is off the front hall, which closes with a door to the living room. The shower, which is small, but new, has a combo hand held or fixed in place showerhead, and is off the bedroom. There's also a heated towel rack.

First, you come in the front hall, then walk through the living/kitchen/dining room, then into the bedroom where the shower room is located. Each room has its own door. Hope that answers your question.

There's an old fashioned keyhole in the bedroom door, with a little cover that slides over the keyhole so that the occupant of the bedroom can peek out at whoever's in the living room, but no one on the other side can peek back into the bedroom while the cover is in place.

When my nearly 12 year old grandson discovered the keyhole, he exclaimed, "Hey, I thought they only had these things in movies!"

Thank you very much, Croque Madame! You have answered all the questions I directed to the people at Vacation In Paris (I am still waiting for their response, but I am sure you know more about the apartment, having stayed there, than they do.) The only other thing I was curious about was the window situation. The one in the bedroom looks lovely, but I can't tell from the pictures if the other windows also look out on the courtyard. And, if you don't mind me asking, why did you choose the 7th arrond. for your stay in Paris? I am always interested in how people pick locations for their accommodations! K

Another query for the oh-so-helpful Croque Madame: I understand that there is a cafe or restaurant downstairs in the same bldg. or right next door. Did you try it, by any chance, or look at the posted menu and glance inside? It could be a great fallback for us if we come "home" too leg weary to hike somewhere else. Thanks!

Glad to have helped out! As for the windows, only the one in the bedroom opens fully, overlooking a small courtyard five floors below containing storage sheds. No spectacular view, but plenty of light and fresh air.

The other two windows, behind the sofa and above the washer/dryer, only open slightly at the top, on a slant.

I have stayed in the 7th three times now because I like the convenience of the daily market at rue Cler and the peacefulness of the neighborhood. The Eiffel Tower is close by for spontaneous after dinner walks in the evening, as is the beautifully lit Invalides. The Ecole Militaire and Latour Maubourg metro stops aren't madhouses like those in the more tourist saturated stations.

Robdaddy: While we were there, the Cafe Max, adjacent to the apartment building on the bottom floor, was closed for renovations. However, Le Florimond, a great favorite of Fodorites, is just a few doors down.

If you come home weary at the end of the day, get off at Ecole Militaire and go to rue Cler on your way home to pick up a rotisserie chicken and roasted potatoes. Add to that a jar of Flageolets Verts to heat up, maybe the fixings for a salad.

Or, if you can afford it, there's a branch of the gourmet food store, Fauchon, right there with incredible selections. For the absolute best croissants, very affordable, there's a bakery on the same side of the avenue as the apartment, open every day except Saturday, till after dark.

Or, on rue Cler, there's the very popular Cafe du Marche, where I can recommend the comfit du canard (preserved duck). Get an outdoor table unless smoking doesn't bother you, for it seems everyone smokes in Paris.
