vacationinparis apt

Has anyone stayed in the #74 apartment listed with Vacation In Paris? How about other apartments they list? Thanks -K

Scarlett Oct 14th, 2004 05:13 PM

OMG! I would stay in that apt!
Patrick who posts here stays in a beautiful apt .. maybe he will see this and post about it.
There is also a wonderful apt on the Ille St-Louis that might be on that site.
What fun, how long are you planning to be there?

kbrennan Oct 14th, 2004 05:18 PM

We will be there a week. Last time we time to do Paris in 4 days (including Versailles) and found that was not nearly enough time. Hopefully we will make a good decision about an apartment and have a pleasant stay. K

I found the apt on the Ille St-Louis but it is very expensive. Oh well, maybe after we win the Lottery.
Good luck with the apt hunt ~

Yes - there are a lot of very expensive apartments in Paris. I am always surprised by the number of people on these chat sites who recommend Paris Perfect apartments. They must budget a lot more for lodging expenses than I do. K

I wish they had more pictures, including one of the bath. 400 square feet is small -- think total of 20 feet by 20 feet. Take out the kitchen and bath, and divide the rest into separate bedroom and living room and it must be really cramped -- yet hard to tell from the pictures. Like, I wonder if there is space to get in on both sides of the bed? I look at the picture of the living room (sleeper sofa) and see no coffee tables, no end tables -- if you want to sit and have a glass of wine, where do you put it down? It just seems very sparse to me, but at least done with some taste -- and the kitchen is beautiful (but that means the least to me, since I don't cook in Paris).
Are you thinking of it for four people like it says or just two? I'd think 4 would be pushing it! But the price isn't bad for the location and the apparent style -- plus air conditioning and an elevator -- two big pluses!

Patrick -you noticed the same things in the pictures that we did. I have asked the company about pics of the bathroom and type of shower(hand-held or real shower!)and for a better description of the living room. There are 3 of us - my daughter gets the couch and I don't care how small the bedroom is. Hopefully I can get some more information or pictures soon. K

I have booked an apartment with them for Easter Week "Place Des Victories". They were very responsive and helpful. I'd be interested to hear if anyone on this board has stayed at any of their properties as well. It does seem small, but for the amount of time we'll be there it really didn't matter. The location and price seemed very reasonable.

Robdaddy Oct 15th, 2004 09:28 AM

kbrennan, when will you be in Paris? I ask because we have booked that very apt. for 5 nts. over the New Year, so I'll be glad to fill you in on our experience if you're going to be there later than that. Of course, if you're going first...

I must say that my dealings with Vacation in Paris have been very satisfactory up to this point, so I'm hopeful all will continue to be well.

Patrick, I'll be able to tell you just how small 440 sq. ft. can be...there will be 5 of us in that space!! Me, TW, & 3 daughters ages 14, 12, and 6. Hey, I booked the air for this trip on a mad whim, so money is an issue, and the apt. is cheaper than getting a double and a triple room at a hotel, plus we can eat-in some, too. Only one bathroom, of course, but when you live with four women you become adept at going out the window, anyway. :) ;)

Anyway, if Scarlett says she'd stay there, it's good enough for me!

kbrennan Oct 15th, 2004 09:38 AM

Thanks for your message, Robdaddy. We won't be there til spring, so please let me know what the bathroom looks like! I am looking forward to having a kitchen available - it's nice to run to Rue Cler for fresh pastries and breads for breakfast and my husband can have his usual whole pot of coffee before venturing out in the morning. K

WE have booked an apartmetn with them for next week it is the in the 2nd. I found the company to be good so far. I liked that they sent us the keys so we don't have to go to an office in Paris to pick them up, also some of the other companies I looked into would not allow you to check out on sunday becuase one of their reps had to check the apt before you leave and they don't work on Sundays. Also, you pay with American money not Euros. I hope our apartment is as good as it looks.

kbrennan, We spent a week 18-25 Sept in a great apt thru www.beau-paris.com 15th arrondissement,2 bdrm close to shops and metro. We paid 600 euros-price may have gone up by now. Phillipe-the owner-was wonderful and spoke English. Very clean, use of a computer and a washing machine(no dryer)made it a great apt,IMHO!!!

irish Oct 15th, 2004 11:29 AM

Forgot-apartment is listed as "rue Borromee".

tweetexT Oct 15th, 2004 11:34 AM

You might want to look at rentparis.com as well. I used them last year and was very happy.

Scarlett Oct 15th, 2004 01:34 PM

Why, Robdaddy, what a sweet thing to say! Thank you ~

I could not sleep last night so I sat here and looked at ALL the apts :)
I really like that one the best, unless I were to go for # 71 :)

Suzanne2 Oct 15th, 2004 02:57 PM

Has anyone looked at or stayed in #38? I'm wondering what the neighberhood is like there. I think the apartment is fine since there are only 2 of us.

Scarlett Oct 15th, 2004 03:40 PM

If you walk past the Louvre and past Les Halles , you will end up in the area where the #38 apt is. It is a busy place, lots going on.

Scarlett Oct 15th, 2004 03:42 PM

I just looked at the studio in the same area, that is also very nice, just for two people.

crepes_a_go_go Oct 15th, 2004 03:59 PM

firstson Oct 15th, 2004 06:26 PM

kbrennan--

I'll be sure to post a trip report when we return...look for it in early Jan.

And by the way, in case you didn't know, in addition to the rue Cler market, there's one at Saxe-Breteuil, also close by, which is said to be very good and is a true street market. It operates one either Wed. or Thurs. (not sure) and Sat.
