You don't mention how you plan to get to the airport. I would allow at least an hour but it doesn't hurt to allow for more time to be on the safe side. You can always use that extra time at the airport for more shopping!

Cripes, I am also with Peter and janis, but you should be at the airport a minimum of 3 hours before your flight home. Plan on an hour to the airport.

We had a really nice visit. Didn't get to see as much as on the itinerary due to the busy time and long lines, but overall I Loved what I saw and definitely hope to return to both London and Paris one day. Thank you again for those of you that genuinely helped me... I was clueless and you really helped guide me throughout the last min journey.

Welcome back Lilly! I didn't see this thread until recently, but I recognize so much of my mom in your mom (my dad died six months ago and he was the calm, logical one who took care of everything) so I fully sympathize. You're a good daughter and I hope you get to experience Europe again very soon...on your own terms!

Thanks everyone.

PegS... I LOVE your comment, you spoke to my heart. YES, I feel like I can't handle my mom without my dad. He was so logical and took care of everything, she is a total mess. She was not that appreciative of the trip either, she was very depressed and seemed to be so unhappy. I guess I shouldn't have taken her on his one year anniversary. Its as if the whole death had just occurred. I miss my Dad soooo much. It sucks that I am an only child too. I do hope I can go back to Europe on my own terms, however, with a small child and the high expense of visiting there, it won't be anytime soon.. .

My little guy is begging me to take him to Madrid to Meet Ronaldo (soccer player) and see Portugal where he grew up. I wasn't able to find a way to have him meet Ronaldo yet. So we will see.

I am so sorry for your father's loss too.. I pray we get through all this. Sending you Hugs.

Awww, many hugs to you too, Lilly. Oh, the stories I can tell you about all the frustrations with my mom. I love her to death, and I always knew my dad was the rock of the family, but I didn't quite realize what a buffer he was until he got sick.

Unlike you, I do have a sister and throughout my dad's illness and since his death I've been thanking my lucky stars that I had her to shoulder the burden. I don't know how you do it, but I'm sending you much moral support. Best to you and your little boy, who will no doubt someday get to Portugal!
