Urgent please help asasp
We are (a couple in our thirties)right now in salzburg and we are touring in austria. We were in vienna and drove down to traunkirchen and then to hallstatt. This is not our first time in austria we already visited st wolfgang, st gilgen, kitzbul, mayrhofen and we visited as well munich and neushvenchtein , fussen, schwangau, bodensee other lakes and the black forest in germany, and we know almost all of switzerland.
We would like to visit other interesting places around. We are wondering where to go. We thought about going to Lech or bergensgarden. Maybe you have other places to recommend for us.
We are waiting for your help before we drive out from salzburg.
Thank you so much

It's almost 1PM. How much longer are you planning on waiting for a reply before you say "nevermind, let's just go to Berchtesgaden"?
Go see The Eagle's Nest. Interesting bit of WWII history even though the original building is gone.
Is Dacahu too far off of your route? What about Passau?

Thanks a lot everybody,
We re still in salzburg, We will be leaving around 5 this afternoon.
Sparkchaser
I asked about the of Der Salzburger Rupertikirtag. Well, they re saying that the festival is in mid september on the st rupert day (patron of salzburg),
I forgot to mention that on the 26 we are going to Innsbruck, koenigsee seems very beautiful and not far just half an hour drive from salzburg. Graz is the opposite side from innsbruk.
Following your recommendations, we re thinking of going to berchtegaden and koenigsee. Are 4 days too much just for berchtesgaden, since koenigsee half a day would be enough?
Passau is in the bavarian forest which is I guess the black forest and we ve been there last year.
Is dacahu on chiemsee?
Is there any other interesting village to see around? What about lech and the voralberg?
Thank you so much fodorites.

Dachau is outside Munich.
Yeah, I realized my mistake about Rupertikirtag when I noticed it is still August
If you have 4 days, I recommend driving to Nuremberg -- the Volksfest is going on this weekend -- and do a day or two there then going to Bamberg then heading back South. That's just me though.

Things to see/do in Nüremberg:
Nazi Documentation Center. EXCELLENT overview of the rise and fall of the Nazis. Extremely well done.
Nuremberg Trials Museum
DeutscheBahn Museum.
There's a zoo but it's skipabble
Volksfest. Beer, food, entertainment, rides, games, etc.

Passau is not in the Black Forest. It is in the Bayerwald which is on the opposite side of the country and only 1:40 north of Salzburg.
Here is the drive time for a Salzburg, Nuremberg - Passau - Innsbruck "circle" all on the Autobahn 7:30
Here is the time for a Salzburg - Passau - Regensburg - Innsbruck circle taking mainly secondary roads 6:00
I love Bamberg and Nurnberg, but Passau and Regensburg are also wonderful cities that are a little more out of the way and you might be less likely to see on a return trip to Germany than Nurnberg and Bamberg
