Up! Up! And away!

Hello Fodorites!
Ever sat next to someone on an airplane and wondered if they got a better deal than you did on the flight. What is the best airline deal you’ve gotten domestically, or internationally? Personally, mine would be a flight from LAX to ATL for $163 roundtrip on United. By the way, did I mention it was during the Christmas holidays.

FF miles awards fares are the best! Just kidding, but they do give one a big thrill, yes? My best fare was 299$ rt. to Paris from Atlanta,,,,AF. FYI, Judy

I jumped on the $199 round trip December fare from New York to Brussels a few years ago. It was the introductory fare from CityBird, based in Brussels.

Sent my daughter back to school (Baltimore to Raleigh) one-way USAirways purchased on biztravel.com $72.50 price of ticket. Original flight was cancelled due to fog. USAirways flew her to Greensboro and sent her (and others) in a van up to Raleigh, but biztravel made good on their guarantee and refunded me the cost of the ticket. Final cost $0.

Back in the late 70's on the great People's Express - about $29 round-trip from DC to Newark. For a liitle while, I remember them having some fares under $10 each way.

Oh Howard, your post reminded me of a non-stop flight from San Francisco to Brussels and return for $99.00 each way. As I recall, it was in early December 1985. People's Express was inaugurating service to Europe. I think the plane was a 747 with 555 happy people aboard.

$185 R/T from Baltimore to Phoenix over Christmas holiday on TWA. Still can get fares at about $220, but now I have to buy 5 tickets. Let's just say we don't visit Phoenix as much as we used to.

Also memorable: $44 R/T Phoenix to L.A. on Southwest. Hey, why not just take the whole family to Disneyland at that price? So we did.

From the looks of it Diane seems to be the stand-out winner! Nothing from nothing usually leaves nothing. But not in this case. Good going Diane!
