Yes I felt the same way - Trieste way unsung after my visit there a few years back - totally unique place due to it being in Austria at times and Italy at times and Croatia just a tad south - nice seafront - the old wooden buildings of the old town on the hill marvelously restored, etc. antique tram to Villa Opicina (sp?), etc.

DH and I made it a day train trip from Venice and visited Castello di Miramare and strolled around the piazza unita and harbor area. A lovely city but we could find no gelato!

Ah the coffee in the train station - not only Cappuccino but strong Austrian coffee and cakes as well.

I had dinner tonight with a gentleman from Trieste. It's now on my list.
