Too bad ... if Brits lost common sense voting for something plain stupid and now they lose their famed sense of humor...

I know I write at second or third degree, but you should know me by now.

If I am the reason to justify the Brexit afterwards because I find it stupid, we live in the best of worlds !

And it was just offensive towards 31 millions of idiots who don't know better but still vote.

In YOUR opinion.

Yes, imo.
But these 31 millions who voted told me to go to hell basically.
So either they don't like me as European or they voted for the wrong reasons.
In all cases, they are idiots - imo. Tur idiots or temporary ones. And they will see/feel it soon actually.
In the long run, countries/civilizations have fared better when they installed roads, removed barriers with their neighbours.
Recentering on oneself has never been a winning strategy but ok for me if it suits you.

What would be the "wrong" reasons.......In your opinion? Most people I know voted with regard to reasons that mattered to them and we all agreed that the EU was a "slight annoyance" until 2004, then the attitude changed considerably.

Wrong reasons are that for a referendum people vote in the light of current problems not for the questoin at stake.
And as far as the wrong reasons were, I noted that UK brexiters campaigned in the sense that leaving Europe would mean saving money and limiting immigration.

If I wanted to quote my all time favourite politician : they had the choice between dishonour and immigration, they voted dishonour and will have immigration.

Europe is the only way to survice in a global mondial economy. Those who think that having had an empire and taking shelter in a small island will protect them are fools... And all the fools sailed away.

Anyway these converstations are best done at 2 am with a glass of good beer. In the meantime, if UK citizens are to endure a long and nasty visa procedure, that serves them right !

'Bien fait pour leur pomme !' (well done for their apple).

Wow, talk about taking things personally. No, a vote for Brexit doesn't mean someone is telling WoinParis to go to hell. Or even that they don't like Europe or Europeans. My elder sister lived in Germany for several years and loves the place, plus she visits Europe three or four times a year, but she voted for Brexit. I think she was wrong, but she didn't didn't do it because she hates Europeans.

"Those who think that having had an empire and taking shelter in a small island will protect them are fools."

I was wondering when you'd bring that up, people usually do when they're losing the argument. So the Spanish, German, Belgians etc didn't have empires in the past?? Sounds like a bit of jealousy that we were better at it than the other countries (at least we didn't wipe out a whole nation like the Spanish)!! Nobody thinks we will be "protected" on a small island (why don't you do what the Germans do and just call us island apes )
Doesn't the fact that millions of people voted to go on our own tell you how much the EU NOT Europe is despised.

' people usually do when they're losing the argument.'

Ah ?

Ok you win.

But as far as I am concerned you cannot despised EU and love Europe. That is a little bit how we perceive things here : Theresa wants to divorce, but she wants to keep living in the house, with a full fridge and access to TV.

Anyway. Enough said, you have won the argumetn. And I hope you'll live happily without EU. I will live less well without UK, but that is really not something you care for.

Et Fachoda, hein ?

Et le Zaire, c'état pas un empire, c'était le parc privé du roi Léopold 1er.

Nonsense. Arguments in support of that assertion, please.

speak for yourself please Hooameye. I'll grant you that many [not necessarily all] Brexiteers may despise the EU but statistically speaking that does not mean that a majority of Brits do. Sadly I don't think that the Remain campaign made a sufficiently strong case for staying in by emphasising the non-economic benefits of remaining in, [eg in respect of culture and security not to mention peace] but given that many so called remainers turned out to be closet leavers that's hardly surprising.

As for WoinP losing the argument, I can't think of one argument on Brexit that Mrs May and her merry band of Brexiteers have won so far. No leaving on single market terms, no discussion of trade until we've sorted out the money we'll have to pay to leave [anyone remember those who were so keen to leave mentioning that it would cost us billions to do so?] no deal yet on the rights of UK citizens who live in the EU, Gibraltar being sold down the river - I could go on.
