BBC World carried a story on KFC in Britain running out of chicken! And having to close most of its 900 British outlets because of it. First I was shocked that Britain had that many KFC outlets and also by the anguish many KFC denizens expressed about the shortage. Chicken shortage - did that pop up overnight? Anyway, kind of amusing.

I'd say KFC needs better management. why did this happen all of a sudden?

Because they changed supplier, probably due to some weasel in an office trying to score brownie points with his boss by "saving money".

It was a change is supply chain not supplier.

Bidvest are one of world’s largest (and efficient) food supply chain operators. DHL shop packages and envelopes which is a dying business and they have been pushed out by Amazon.

DHL outbid Bidvest for KFC’s contract and discovered that shipping chicken isn’t like shipping brown boxes.

If this continues, it could be a disaster for the NHS. Every day KFC remains closed, adds 0.0004 days onto average life expectancy in Britain.

The NHS will collapse by Christmas.

hetismij- Brits interviewed on BBC were practically in tears at news -especially some kids. I am shocked that KFC is so so popular with a certain class of people. As for NHS disaster folks not getting KFC will probably go for other greasy fare from chippies.

Pal - of course they were - they were on the telly and hamming it up accordingly. It isn't popular with the vast majority of people. It is a last resort. Frankly I'd rather go hungry.

But with 900 KFCs in Britain that seems like an enormous amount - surprised me- I obviously am not a KFC fan.
