uffazi reservations florence
I thought that tickets for the uffazi gallery could be made in advance on-line but when i go to their site it is only by phone. The on-line tickets seem to be from private companies. How can I determine which is a good company.

I wouldn't bother trying to decide which online company to use.
There are many threads here that discuss how Fodorites successfully use the telephone number to make their reservations. Why not try it?
Or ask your hotel in Florence to make the reservations for you.

I'm not sure how to determine which is a good company, but may I suggest that it will be cheaper and better to follow this good advice from Ira:
"Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 1016868 (dial around number), 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 3 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them."
When you call, you don't have to give your CC. I don't know if you have to do this with private companies.

Iris, you can either call them yourself or just e-mail your hotel and ask them to do it for you. Give them a date and time. Hotels in Florence are very used to doing this for their guests before arrival. You will pay only when you arrive at the museum.
