Ubeda or Ronda for 1/2 a day??

Can't decide which way to drive from Seville in September to Granada, The choices are via Ronda or Ubeda. Time seems to be equal. Any suggestions???

Never heard of Ubeda, but we just returned from Ronda, and loved the place. Spectacular views. The parador is wonderful (perhaps because we had a room overlooking the gorge with the mountains in the distance). We are looking forward to returning some day.

2nd vote for Ronda. It is beautiful! We were there last Sept. Warm in the day and cool in the evening. Didn't go to Ubeda so can't comment.

Bigpip, Ronda. 1/2 a day is too short but worth a stop. Consider reading day 10 in http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35001438.

Ronda.

Been to both. Both nice, Ronda spectacular.

Road from Ronda to coast is amazing. Look for the wrecked tourist bus at the bottom of one of the canyonson your left, soon after entering the mountains. Rusty now, so it must have gone over some time ago.

Ubeda is interesting, but Ronda is a far better option if you can only visit one.

Half a day seems too little for visiting either Ubeda
(or Ronda two great destinations.

But since Bigblp has only half a day I think that will be glad that he spent it in Ronda gazing into the gorge, walking through the old town, and visiting the historic bullring.

If I have only a half day to spend in Venice or San Francisco, for instance, I would rather do that than not visit them at all. The same goes for Ronda. To each his own, as they used to say.

Haven't been to Ubeda, but did enjoy Ronda. We were there one day and one night, but I think 1/2 day would have been sufficient. The drive from Ronda to the coast is beautiful!

Ubeda & Baeza are a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. I'd recommend spend one night in the Parador of Ubeda or in a former palace turned to hotel.
