Tuscany/Siena - Itin help
My husband and I will be staying at Relais La Suvera - and will be in the area for 2 1/2 days. I am doing a cooking school for one of the days. Any suggestions of how to map out the other day and a half? We will have a car. I love wineries - and not looking to do too much sightseeing as I will have just come from Florence and will be heading to Rome afterwards. Also any restaurant sugesstions?

I JAS, I agree with ira. Siena is a must see! It's a small city so you can visit it on foot in half a day. I saw the duomo, piazza del campo, The Mangia Tower and the Santa Caterina complex. I can't remember the name of the (excellent and reasonably priced) restaurant but it's just off Piazza del Campo. Looking at the Town Hall take the road to the right and you'll find it on the right hand side of the road.

There was a very good thread with detailed suggestions for wine tasting in Tuscany a little while ago.
Unfortunately, Fodor's has not gotten around to indexing in what seems like weeks.
If you have the patience, you can keep going to Message No. 200 or 300 until you hit it. As far as I can recall, it was called "Wine tasting in Tuscany."
(Ignore the first reply to the message.)

Message 200 or 300?!? I must have been dreaming; I found it as Message 1292:

The flippant and pretentious first reply has been removed; the remaining messages are mostly factual.

I think Volpaia is the winery near La Botegga. My wife and I did the tour/tasting a couple of weeks ago. Have been on better tours, but the wine was fantastic. Small town of 40 people.
In Siena, a good trattoria is Le Torre. No menu, staff speaks a little english at best, but the food is fantastic as well as a good atmosphere/experience.
