Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast
My fiance and I are going to Tuscany and the Amafi Coast for our honeymoon in July for 2 weeks (one week in each location). I am looking for suggestions/ideas on the following:
1) Towns to stay in in Tuscany which would be most convenient to wine tasting, eating well, bike riding, sightseeing, etc?
2) What are the best cooking programs in Tuscany?
3) Hotels, B&Bs or Castles to stay at in Tuscany?
4) Best vinyards?
5) Great bike tours?
5) Reasonably priced and really nice places to stay in Positano?
6) Do you suggest I stay in Positano for 1 week or should I stay 1/2 week in Positano and a 1/2 week someplace else?
Thank you for your help!!!

Sounds like a fabulous plan!
I have no idea what your budget is for your trip, but Back Roads (www.backroads.com) does a week long bicycle trip of Tuscany. I haven't done their tours, but my cousin loved their tour of Provence.
Have a great time!
By the way - I don't think there are any castles in Tuscany - lots of villas, but no real medieval castles like in England. When we did a day of cycling out of Florence we past by a villa/chateaux that was a cooking school. Sounded like fun and was in a gorgeous setting (picture A Room with a View type scenery). Can't be more specific as I was trying not to fall off my bicycle going down the rain slicked hill. Unfortunately I missed the name!

We stayed in a castle just outside of Assisi, which is in Umbria--Castel San Gregorio. We loved our stay, which included two outstanding dinners.
They do not have a website or email. For more info on them, check out:

I would stay in Positano 4 days. You can use it as a base for day trips or just hang around, then I would go to Ravello for 3 days. Ravello is very quiet and romantic, but not much to do there. It would be a great place just to relax. Congratulations.

Depends what you want to do. If sight seeing or historic sights are of interest I would suggest Sorrento as a base for week two. It is easy to get to Capri,Naples,Pompei,Herculanem, Vesuvius. Going south a good trip is the Amalfi drive, spectacular views and you can stop at Positano and Ravello on the way.
I went to Pasteum (Greek ruins and museum) it was brilliant! Maybe a few nights in Sorrento and some in Positano?
